Obj. 3.01 - Understand the personal education and skills needed to transition from secondary to post-secondary education or employment

Announcements:CFA#2 and Vocabulary Test on Friday, March 23

Bellringer:
Go to the zenworks box and then click on Microsoft Publisher. Pull up a brochure.
Go to my computer then student docs then career management then educational institutions

Independent Exercise:
1. The teacher will play a 4 minute video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSdXxUx2UhM&feature=relmfu Listen very closely because you will be completing the Linked In for Students- Prework worksheet

2. After you complete ALL of the questions ON the Linked In for Students- Prework worksheet TYPE and save your 2 Smart headlines and your summary. CHECK for red and green lines which means you have spelling and/or grammar mistakes. Correct any mistakes. Don't forget to save! This is IMPORTANT. When we create our Linkedin pages it could help us get into the school of our choice and/or help us find a great job. PLEASE take your time. This is more than an assignment. This is real-life work that can make a difference in your future.

3.If you did not finish yesterday, students will complete the educational institutions worksheet today. Make sure you have answered ALL of the multiple choice questions.

4. Students will FINISH (I don't expect your to finish today) to create a Publisher brochure (any design) with the following information: (You should have research this information during your many projects this semester, if you did not you will need to research it now)

Please help each other. You gave wonderful presentations and I know you can pull together as a team to help make everyone successful on this project.

1. Your First Name
2. The School you wish to attend
3. The Major or Career you wish to have and what classes you need to take
4. How much the application fee is and when is the deadline for the application?
5. How much it will cost at the college for one year?
6. You must be creative- it must look nice and professional
7. All pictures must have citations
8. NO spelling or grammar mistakes
9. ALL information MUST be correct- no guessing, research the answers.
My plan is to make copies of your brochures for the guidance counselor's career information bookcase. Create something that you will be proud to have other students see.

Thursday you will not be in the lab. You will be doing a review vocabulary Jeopardy game. Friday will be the vocabulary test (from this week's worksheet and earlier multiple choice worksheets) on a bubble sheet and the CFA#2 test on the computer.
